Re- #introduction due to some incapacitating decisiveness about how to use different accounts:
I work in IT, study Philosophy (history of) and Japanese, and I help admin camp.smolnet.org, a tiny (and sort of Swedish) Mastodon instance for the smol internet. I like cats, birds, snacks, books, yarn, and general nerdy stuff. I like Linux and hate computers. よろしくお願いします!
Remember at the height of #covid19 lockdown, where the #medical staff were hit by far the worst, Western governments bent over backwards making it known how medical workers were heroes that were literally, not figuratively, keeping the country from collapsing, complete with multimillion dollar nation wide media campaigns and flyovers with jets at the largest hospitals.
But paying medical workers more as they risk their life and sanity to save lives? Now you're just being entitled!

The title could have been “pre-built binaries such as ‘wheels’ aren’t portable”, but that’s nothing new.

Alcohol and city life
I’m in no way the first person to bring up this point, but it needs to be repeated:
A large portion of open, public city life is centered around alcohol. That’s problematic.
I like alcohol, but more variety in the public space wouldn’t hurt.
I love cafés – however, in #Stockholm I would love to see more cafés that are open late. We could do so much better in that regard.
Feel free to boost if you agree.
